The Juncal Educational Institute (IEJ) was inaugurated on September 22nd, 1989, by then Minister of Education, Engineer Roberto Artur da Luz Carneiro, and is located in the village of Juncal, in the municipality of Porto de Mós, district of Leiria.
Currently, this educational institution is attended by more than 800 students, from pre-school to 12th grade, according to the Portuguese Educational System, and encompasses nine years of elementary school and three years of high school.
The IEJ is a public institution funded by the Ministry of Education under the Association Agreement.
Founded in 1989, with definitive operating authorisation no. 335 and with Pedagogical Autonomy from 5th to 12th grade, it currently has authorisation for pre-school and 1st cycle with a ministerially authorised capacity for 1,164 students. In vocational education, it is funded by Pessoas 2030.
